The combination of moisture, heat and
dead skin flakes produced by a sleeping person makes a mattress the
ideal breeding ground for dust mites and other allergens. Bacteria
infested flakes of dry skin (we all shed skin) that build up on the
mattress offer the dust mite a rich source of on going food,
enhancing their rate of reproduction.
Up to 2,500
dust mites have been counted in as little as one gram of dust! This
computes to there being as many as 2 million+ dust mites in a
regular, standard size mattress alone! No matter
how houseproud you are, the fact is you are sharing your bed with
millions of dust mites greedily feasting on the dead skin flakes you
shed everyday.
The typical dust mite produces 200
times its body weight in excrement during its normal life span. Dust
mites can produce enough feces to double the weight of your
mattress! Dust mites'
excrement (Guanine) adheres to the fibers in the mattress fabric as
tiny mucous coated balls. Later, it decomposes into a fine
powder-like dust.
It is a scientific fact that exposure
to the allergen guanine found in dust mite excrement is directly
responsible for allergies and the resultant problems such as asthma;
bronchitis; eczema; inflammation of the mucous membranes; red itchy
or watery eyes; sneezing; cough; Nasal congestion; headaches; depression; fatigue;
poor sleep and a whole host of other allergic reactions. It's their
bathroom habits that make us itch and wheeze. Many people develop
severe allergies to dust mite droppings.
We spend approximately one-third of our
lives in bed, moving around frequently. When we move on the mattress
it acts like a bellows and puffs up particles containing the
microscopic dust mite excrement, which easily pass through
protectors and bedding to land on our face and skin and enter our
breathing passage, eventually triggering respiratory and
dermatological problems.
If you are suffering any symptoms of asthma and/or
other
types of allergies, you are
most likely reacting to dust mite excrement. Even though you don't have any
asthmatic or other allergic symptoms at the moment, it does not mean
that you are immune from indoor contaminants and allergens. As
contaminants and allergens can accumulate in our body, over time, there is still a
high chance that prolonged exposure to
dust mites' excrement can cause allergies, inflammation of the
mucous membrane, upper respiratory problems, asthmatic conditions,
and flu-like symptoms to develop and begin at a
later time.
Besides dust mites, a mattress is also
a home to many other harmful organisms, such as bacteria and
viruses, fungal spores, mould, bed bugs, and contaminated sediments
such as dust, salt from
perspiration, bodily fluids
and pet hair allergens. All these contaminants can jeopardize our health conditions and contribute to the
development of potential health problems.
They are a resilient bunch and deeply
embedded in your mattress. You can't simply vacuum them away! It takes Hygienitech's
germicidal and scientifically provenmattress cleaning and sanitising process
to destroy and remove them.
